OK so those whove driven both how do they compare under handling/acceleration/speed/economy/reliability/refinement.
I'll start the ball rolling....
I reckon as they are almost mechanically identical that the more aero shape of the Sei cancels out the Cinqs weight advantage at all bar sub 30mph speed) .Sei is far more refined inside-door "thud" of Sei a world away from Cinqs "tinny" slam. Its interior is more hard wearing (especially seats -do all Cinq seats wear at the sides?)
Cinq has far more "classic" status and timeless shape though and is that bit 'rawer' in a good way(modern heavy wide cars are so dull)
Both are a blast to "drive like you wanna kill/break them-probably not that hard-is there anything that doesnt give trouble in a Cento?!)
899cc Cinq not as much slower as you might think than 1108cc in real world driving although roll bar helps and FIRE engine a lot more reassuring to bang off rev limiter!!!
Whats the 1108cc Sei non sporting like compared to Sporting.Does it have rollbar or just longer/slower gear box?

ive owned 2 899cc cinq s (m reg and p reg) and i now own a sei sx (s reg) the seicento is much more smoother to drive, you dont feel as high up (like a van), sei acelerates better, doesnt handle corners better then the cinq's did, drinks more then the cinqs though (then again greencotton might not help)

bout it really

Thanks gazza thats what I was interested in a comparison from people whove driven both not a pile of nonsense about which is the better car or even 'dont start up this thread again'!

Having owned both, Im loving my Sei at the mo but I go through stages of loving the Cinq. If my Sei was as quick as my Cinq I'd have the Sei, but as its not I think I will have to go for the Cinq.

i have owned both (sporting) and im gutted to say - cause i loved my sei that the cinq edges it, for some reason it feels raw i really wanna give it some  , the sei felt more smooth refined, so i was gentle :p

could compare them to a mistress and a wife perhaps :chin:

there is no difference performance wise between the 2, but for engine noise, road noise and rickity creaks , the cinq feels quicker :p

I havent owned both, but have driven both, and I am always pleased to get back in my cinq. Hence my earlier post.

I own one Seicento SPI and one Seicento MPI, one Cinquecento S, one Cinquecento Sporting, one Cinquecento Sporting with a 1242 16v FIRE engine and one Cinquecento (shell) which is being turned into a track car (which doesn't count for a comparison).

I dislike the engine in the S, but love the Sportings. The Cinquecentos are not as refined as the SPI Seicentos and the MPI Seicento can compete with more expensive cars in terms of refinement, which makes driving quite comfortable first of all due to the absence of excessive noise. But the Cinquecento is the car I would have to go for if I hadn't have the option of owning more than one car. The Seicento doesn't have the fun factor (in my personal opinion).
