I finally got round to changing the head gasket the other night (been delayed as I have to build another race car for someone)

and the damn thing wont start.

I was so tired so probably missed something (as I threw the cam cover out I was so tired LOL)

When you crank it, it turns over but just doesnt fire. When you look at the throttle butterfly after trying to start it, its dry (ie as if no fuel has come out, should it be like this?). I hit the fuel cut off reset switch and that didnt change anything.

Is there anything obvious I may have missed?

I'll check the timing again this weekend.

The is also a green 3 pin conector down by the cam side thats not conected to anything, I have a feeling it should be, but cant remember.

Thanks in advance

if the butterfly is dry i would think its a fuel problem. take the pipe which feed the throttle body with fuel off and turn the engine over , it should squirt out some fuel. if not, then that is where i would start to investigate. i.e silly question i know.... fuel in the tank, fuel filter etc.
was it working fine before you changed the gasket??

ricky

After putting cambelt on did you ensure that the alternator belt pulley was lined up correctly, there is a small hole that lines on a pin on surface of the bit it bolts to, if this is not lined up your timing will be out and car will not start as the timing sensor takes its reading from his pulley.
