Technical Cinq sporting. dead after 3000rpm

I`m not running a filter at the mo(naughty boy)the previous owner crushed the K+n,I cant afford to replace it yet.But i sprayed some cleaner down the vacuum pipe and it seems to be better.But that might just be because it`s cold outside?
Having the ECU checked tomorrow at my mates garage.
So i`ll let you know

Not much in the way of options really the K+n`s sh**ged and trying to find a cinq in a scrappy in Cornwall is impossible

better a shagged k&n than no filter, and with no filter i'd never dream of taking it over 3k

The k+n`s so shagged it won`t even fit over the throotle body any more so it`s only resting on top

Anyone got a spare aftermarket air filter for sale,must be quite cheap as i`m skint

gonna have another try at cleaning it out. will try a bit of new pipe too.
air filters fine on the cinq. had a new one recently. just has paper one at the mo.

still not sorted this.
sounds like a baffles loose in the exhaust. wondering if thats restricting the flow or somethin. really is dead at 3k. like the fuels not gettin through or somethin. anyone got an old backbox i could buy cheap? needs one really but the birds skint at the moment.

My exhaust rattles too but i think it`s only the heat shield over the cat?
I`ve recentley filled up with optimax and that seems a lot better not perfect but better.

If the cat has collapsed then you could be right. We had a Corsa in yesterday with a collapsed cat and half of it in the back box. Similar symptons.

Don't think the cat would have collapsed to be honest though. its in the actual backbox thats rattling. doubt something would find its way down to the backbox from the cat that easy. plus the rattling from the zorst has got worse like as though the baffle was broken at first and now it is completely loose. can you get decats for cinqs though?

Take the back box off and go for spin, might wind the neighbours up a bit, but at leats you will know. Had a Fiesta once with a colapsed rear box, same sort of symptoms you've described..

hmmm, avoided suggesting this as it means the exhaust gas will be aiming straight for the petrol tank.

Good point, forgot thre back box on a Cinq starts at the middle of the car, engine not going over 3k revs would be the least of your worry's.

So best not drive around with no back box.....

too late did it last night and the car exploded

lol, na i thought about that after actually. think i got a new zorst sorted anyway. so will whack that on as it needs one anyway. if that fixes it i'll be well chuffed. just the wheel bearing, horn to fix and leaking washer pipes next! :bang:
