Technical Cinq MPI Punto 75 conversion

I found out through the punto forum it's a ground cable that bolt to the back of the engine.
So I will have a look for that in the next couple of days.

Now I have 2 questions left.

The Codebox cables, My cinq has a Codebox but the new ECU does'nt.
Do I have to connect the cables?
If so, where is the codebox in the cinq located?

I have to connect the alternator and dyno wires to the engine loom.
Now I now the cinq has a plug under the battery tray from where thes to wires go the the alternator and the dyno.
I think I have to connect the engine loom to the wires an the plug on the other end?
Plug go's to the ignition barrel I think?

Code box under dash, Steering wheel side. If it's not connected to ecu, You may not get the code light to go out on the dash so unplug.

Wires:
Alternator.
B+. Red from battery, Brown to ignition.
D+. Black/Violet to charge lamp.
Starter solenoid. Red to ignition.

So on the right side of the car? I have a the steeringwheel on the left:)
Do I have to join wires or is unplugging enough?

"charge lamp" is the light on the dash?

I have used the Cinq plus cable to feed power to the car.
So I plugged it into the connector under the battery tray.
Plugged the red cable on the starter.
Plugged the brown cable on the dyno.

All the cables go back to the + side off the battery.
Also the red cable and the brown cable get joined half way and turn into 1 red cable to the battery.

As I used the starter and dyno from the punto the switched some things over.
Plug from dyno is now on starter and plug from starter is now on the dyno.
As I used the engine loom from the punto I also used the punto dyno and starter.

I checked the punto manual to check I did'nt f*ck the cables up.
But as it turns out all the cable I have connected have to be + and straight from the battery so it should be fine.

I tried to turn it over this afternoon but it did start.
The starter won't even turn over.
The intector light stay's on.
I think this is a codebox issue as my old engine ECU had a code.

-EDIT-
Got the colors of the wires that are left.
The are on the Cinquecento multiplug (engine side).

Orange/Blue
Black/White
Gray/Green
Purple/Black (According to schema this go's to the codebox)

i fitted a 1997 punto 75 engine into my 1999 sei the only wiring i did was to follow the 8 injector wires back to 2 (as they are batch fire) and connect these 2 wires to my 2 wires on the origional 2 point injector and the just plug the ECU in and swap the immobiliser and key thats it for the wiring, this has been running ok for 5 years now all the plugs are the same

I've been reading and posting on the cento-world.de forum.
They also stated I could use the original engine loom and solder the extra 3 injectors on it.

But they als say I can plug the Punto 75 ECU on that cable.
I checked the Pin Layout and I think it is the same.

I would like to know other peoples opinion on this.

I told you already in PM, that I hooked a Palio 75 engine to the cinq loom. The mods I had to do were:

1. Cut the 2 injector wires and solder four injector plugs to it.

2. Change the water sensor plug from 2-pin to 3-pin. For the third pin I extracted the wire from the loom that in Cinq goes to the seprate dash water sensor on the other side of the head. From what I know this really depends on the engine/head/sensors you have in your 75 engine, may not be necessary in all cases.

That simple. Oh, and there is:

3. If using P75 ECU (IAW 8F/18F) you also should cut the wire that goes to pin 26 of the ECU connector. That is, disconnect ECU pin 26. If not, you are very likely to have your battery discharged over one night.

See instead of changing waster temp sensor plug, could you not just the cinq temp sensor or the ECU will get a wrong reading from that ?

Could you say what colour is the wire to pin 26 in the ECU?

Thanks
Ming

Yes, you can change the sensor, no problem here, but if there is no second sensor in the head or place/plug for it, you will loose dash water readings. But as I said, it really depends on your head's layout and sensors that you already have there.

Yes, certainly, in my Cinq it is orange/black. And you have to be carefull to disconnect only this, because I first cut an orange wire, which also reaches pin 26, but also reaches a couple of other necessary things. That is, make sure you disconnect pin 26 from everything else, and not everything from pin 26, if you see what I mean.

Cool thanks :). Did you get the P75 DCU decoded then ? or you got the code unit + key to match >?

thanks
Ming

Oh, this is whole another story, see the thread on my T-project, but short version: I bought a decoded one.

Right then, here is what you need to do to connect the MPI loom up to the Cinq loom (poss seicento too!!)
Main Punto Multiplug.
Punto Brown(white)-to-Cinq Orange(green)
Punto Blue(red)-to-Cinq Grey(red)
Punto Red-to-Cinq Red + Red(black) from starter wiring
Punto Orange-to-Cinq Orange + Orange(black)
Punto Grey(yellow)-to-Cinq Grey(yellow)
Punto Grey(white)-to-Cinq Green(white)
Punto Grey(black)-to-Cinq Black(purple)from alternator wiring

Punto Code box mini plug.
Punto Grey(green)-to-Cinq Grey(green)
Punto Black-to-Cinq Black(purple)from main multiplug

That just leaves the blue on the Punto loom side which I believe is the tacho signal so if you have a quick search regarding fitting an aftermarket tacho, you should be able to find out where to get your last wire plumbed in(my last job for the coming week as its now on ebay!!-new project time methinks!!!)
Please make sure you double check with your own loom as Im pretty sure I havent made an error but best to be sure.It will at least get you on the right track.

Dont forget the punto fuel pump and punto code box (I nearly did!) as well as the ecu and keys.
hi friend I made the cinquecento engine conversion, but I´m having big dificulties in the wires conection, because there are some wire colours that are diferent.

my cinquecento wires:

black/green
red/white
red
2xblue/white
yellow/grey
green/white
black/purple
green/grey
orange
orange/black

Punto wires:

Blue/white
orange
brown/white
green/blue
grey/black
blue

can you help me with this?
