Hello, my brothers cinq sporting fuel pump is not priming. fuel pump works as we connected it to 12v so thats fine. it also is not the fuel cut off switch because i took the one off my cinq to test it.

any ideas to what it is?

i have also read that it could be immobiliser barrel sensor? not sure if thats true.

thanks!

Has your Cinq got an immobiliser (maybe all Sporting do, I'm not 100% sure)?
If it does, does the immobiliser light go out?

Check the fuel pump relay.

fuel pump relay working as it does the same with other ones and works on my sei

I want to give my input on the subject. I have a Seicento Sporting and i have just got a Cinquecento 899. I had the same problem with my Cinquecento. It seems that the problem was the pump relay base. The contacts in the base were bent and whatever relay i tried didn't work. Switching between relays only made the problem worse. I went to a specialist and he immediately took the relay off and bent the contacts in the base so that they could touch the relay's contacts. The problem of not priming hasn't appear since. Hope that this helps.

where is this relay located? is it the big white one on the ecu?

Any luck with this?
My Cinq sporting was running but laid up for a while. Turns over fine - no error light on dash but won't start.
Seems to be the fuel pump as not getting anything to the trottle body or noise under the rear seat.
Swopped the pump relay (big white one on the right - hope that's correct) with one from a car that started.
Checked the fuel cut off with a meter and it turn off/on fine.
Checked voltage at pump and nothing.
Wired pump directly to battery and again nothing.

Will repeat again with a bit more care, but I'm at a bit of a loss :chin:

Ya, that would be the obvious conclusion.
Why though? It was working, then not a few weeks later. How would a pump blow?
But not getting 12V at the connection as well with ignition turned on.

Must go through the logic tests again, and take my time.
Was rushing a little before.

The problem of not priming reappeared. The positive wire going to the pump was connected to another green wire via connectors under a cover right next to the fuse box (left hand drive car). The connection was bad so he stripped the insulation and twist connected the green wire going to the pump to the green wire that probably comes from the relay. Fingers crossed problem solved.
