I bought a chip from the dane who was on the forum the other day. Just installed it and it works car pulls a lot better in 1st n 2nd also sounds better 2. Need 2 test it out more though to get a better impression.

S**T myself on the install though! messin around with the ecu in the dark is not the best of ideas

only cost £35 inc delivery!

I have a 1.6sx 96 model
took me about hour n half (eating my dinner at same time). The 2 underside nuts r a B*****d to get off and worse to get back on!

Should have taken some pics of the job but i was in 2 much of a rush to get the job done!
The other bad thing about installing the chip is that you have to pull the ECU apart with a screwdriver (sort of like the lid on a pot of paint). Very nerve racking when you havnt got a clue about cars like me!

Also when the ecu came apart the chip that i repalced was covered in a sealant and a plastic cover, like a grey shower sealant. I had to carefully cut off the sealant and then pull off the cover revealing the chip. i replaced the chip (using the tiny notch to show which way the chip is supposed to fit (it can go in 2 ways) and sealed every thing back up using some sealant to seal the ecu back together.

tom im feeling nice if you dont live far away from me you can copy mine! im quite interested to pick the code to pieces on both chips to see what the changes are. i dont want it cocking my engine after 6 months i dont fancy rebuilding it again

I wouldn't have the faintest clue where to start dissassembly of it, thats the big problem.

Reading it is the easy bit
