Had my 2007 JTD for about 6 months now, covered 16,000 miles (I'm a cabbie), up until now no problems. 2 days ago thing struggles to go into gear, intermitten problem, so I keep working, however gears seem crunchy when going into gear and not smooth. Get up yesterday morning, wont even go into gear. With Cluth fully depressed, wont go into gear yet car starts to move forward. I am guessing I have a fualty clutch (correct me if I am wrong though).

Spoke to the dealership I purchased off, can't fit me into until 3rd January, spoke to my most local dealership, earliest they can fit me in is the 28th Dec. Phoned up Fiat customerservices this morning, 5 hours later I have had no reply.

So my questions to you are, what are my options? For every day my car is not on the road I lose money, this time of year, a lot of money. Should Fiat give me another Multipla, whilst I am off the road. IF so will they take my meter/radio out of the broken one and put into the new one? How long generally does warranty work take to get the ok from Fiat to go ahead and replace faulty part? If it is a clutch/gearbox problem, how long can I expect work to take? Will Fiat compensate me for my lose of earnings, knowing when I purchased the car that this was its intended use? (yeah right I hear you say). Is this a commn fault with Multiplas, or have I just picked a dud one?

Any input would be welcome.

OK Fiat do not have to give you a car, if they do give you a courtesy car then it does not have to be like for like, so you could end up having a panda. They also do not have to move any equipment for you. Fiat also do not compensate for loss of earnings.
It may be a clutch itself or part of the hydraulics which operate it, difficult to say without looking.
Little help but to be honest your local dealer is doing well to get it in on the 28th, if it broke down today and no work at the dealers for two days over Christmas, thats only a 1 day lead time which is very good.

Id check the gearbox oil level as its known for a seal to go and dump the oil which in turn ruins the bearings.

Sorry cant help really but I used to drive a multipla as a cab. The whole gearstick cover kept coming off in my hands when I changed gear. Didn't instill much confidence in the punters when that happend..

Today I issue Court proceedings against Glyn Hopkin who sold me the Multipla. Will keep you posted.
