Will be checking my oil levels for the first time (new driver first car) and just wanted to check if the accuracy of the reading will make a difference if checked before a journey or directly a few minutes after completing a journey.
The bottom line obviously is the engine should be cold, but the instructions in the manual explicitly states oil levels be checked a few minutes directly after a journey but i'm wondering if it would make a difference if checked first thing in the morning or even days without use for example?
ENGINE OIL fig. 3-4
Check the oil level a few minutes (about 5) after the engine has stopped, with the car parked on level ground. The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick.
