64,000 km 2014 model twinair 0.9 dualogic. Check transmission see dealer error yesterday. Car in limp mode. Won’t change into 4th, won’t go over 2000rom. I bought the MES licence and cleared a “clutch rpm” error in gearbox module. All now good and car “fixed”.

The issue occurred when I got a phone call just as I was about to set off, the engine had been warming up before that. After maybe 10 minutes a beeping started but I ignored it thinking it was a seat belt warning or similar. After maybe 20mins I set off but noticed the red cog warning light and check transmission and start/stop warning messages.

My theory is there MIGHT be some logic in the ecu along the lines of it is implausible to not see a clutch rpm for (say) 10mins in gear, so ecu logs an error.

After clearing the code I drove whilst monitoring the clutch using MES and the rpm only moves from zero when in gear and the car is moving.

Anyway fingers crossed the car has avoided the scrapyard.
 
Peripherally related (and I don't know if it is the same transmission as the TwinAir version) but I'm pretty sure its from the same family and certainly Stellantis' stable, this popped up recently

Dodge Dart I believe has the 1.4 MultiAir engine.
 
Let's hope so - the Duologic transmission does not have a good reputation, but I am sure you know this already...
Somehow I managed to avoid finding out about the selespeed issues until late last year when a mate (from uk) asked me to find him a car to use during a 3 month hol in NZ, rather than him renting one.
I found a panda just like ours for sale locally but the seller mentioned the transmission warning light came on sometimes, a bit of googling and I realised we had a sitting time bomb in the garage, and obviously dropped the idea of buying a dualogic car for him.
Our car has had only “light” use, it’s mainly used nowadays for shopping trips (and the dodgy car parks) now we are retired and have a new EV as our main car (mustang 🤣), and I was rather hoping the Panda would last at least another 10,000km (5 years or longer at current rate). It looks new in and out. So. It was very disappointing to see the warning light!
On the plus side, I always thought the inability to do “diagnostics” would mean taking this car to the dealer for servicing and if anything went wrong, now I have the MES tool I think can look after the car myself.

However, it’s always best to find out what makes a warning code show rather than just clearing it. It might be trying to tell you something:)

Good thought, in this case taking everything into account I will wait and see if the issue returns. The main reasons being:
A) I have what I think is a plausible theory on what caused the error code, the ecu being the root cause, following a long idle.
B) The ecu was reporting zero rpm from the clutch sensor whilst the error code was present, but after clearing the fault started reporting rpm as normal, leading me to think the issue was ecu (logic) related, rather than sensor or wiring.

But if I travel any significant distance from home in this car (unlikely) I will take MES with me……..
