Hello,

Vehicle: 2019 fiat Tipo estate 1.6l. Multijet diesel

For around 8 months (eek!) a "check glow plugs" warning has occasionally flashed upon engine start, with the glow plugs icon flashing intermittently for approximately 15seconds or so before going off. the warning started at approx 26k miles, with the engine now being on approx 31k

Using a garage OBD scanner recently it revealed a fault with glow plug #4. however upon the tech. clearing the fault code and restarting the engine the code hasn't cropped up again. The vehicle has been driven since and started/stopped multiple times incl from a cold start.

Has anyone had this error before, and should the glow plugs still be replaced despite the error no longer persisting.

Thanks

It's up to you. My 2010 1.6 MJ Fiat Doblo always starts perfectly, but came up with that glow plug message and on testing I found a faulty glow plug and replaced the set after testing the signal from the glow plug relay which was all OK.
It was a easy job to change unlike some. they only run on 4.4 volts so be careful if testing them. I did it using a volt meter and a good ammeter as they take roughly 8 amps and are individually wired to the relay.
By the way on your other query, I change my oil filter from underneath without the wheel arch cover off etc. However it is awkward and the plastic nut is weak on the cap, so in the end I use a Facom quality strap wrench which doesn't damage the cap.
All this is assuming yours is similar to my 1.6 MJ .;)

Thank you appreciate the response, will have a look again and see where I get 👍
