check engine & warning light on

This is a punto grande 56 plate. As I reached for the key to turn it off I pressed the lock button by mistake and locked the car with the engine running, I then turned the key off and pulled it out but the engine kept running so I put key back in to turn it on/off again but still wouldn't stop so I had to stall it. I locked/unlocked it started/stopped it but still the engine wouldn't stop so I left it for a day and now it start/stops just fine but the yellow engine warning light is on and check engine message comes on. Any ideas

welcome to the forum it wants the code reading to give an accurate diagnosis don't think the button press on the key will be the issue most garages charge £15-£30 to read the codes (usually refunded if they do the remedial work)

you can get a basic code reader off ebay (look for ELM obd2 code reader) can either get a laptop connectible one or a Bluetooth one for £10 - £15 (these will only give generic obd2 codes) but its a start
