Thanks for the advice everyone!!

In reply to you Piris, right now I'd rather have a fast Cento and cheers btw for all the info, its really helpful.

Right now, and for the next few months my budget's pretty low so I cant afford any big modifications just yet. If it doesnt effect my insurance too much (I will have to check) I would love to get a back box and probably for the moment just an ITG filter for the standard air box.

Also can you explain what you mean by drilling the airbox? literally drilling holes around the edge of the box?

I was considering an APEX kit for £80 but I will be looking for an alternative, what would be a good kit to aim for that I might actually be able to afford?

Cheers,
Ben

Cheap suspension isn't really worth it.

Cheapest I can think of that are worthwhile are 35mm drop Eiback springs, Monroe Reflex shocks all round.

We know that they're entirely adequate for a 115bhp turbo cinq.

I finally got round to doing an oil change today! The oil that was in it was very black indeed, I think it was 2 years since it was last changed by the previous owner. Probably about 20,000 miles ago...

I put a regular halfrauds oil filter in and ran it for 10 minutes with Wynns Engine Flush then topped it up with just over 3 litres of Mobil Super 2000 10w40.

Have to say it runs alot smoother and quieter now :D

I also fitted an ITG Foam replacement filter a while ago, it didnt make much of a noticeable difference but it revs more freely at 5000+ and sounds a little better at high revs too.

don't neglect your cooling system, it should also be regularly emptied, flushed, refilled and bled. If the oil is old then the coolant is likely to be as well ;)

If you want a bit more throat to the induction noise you could just drill the airbox (pre-filter side ONLY) but you need to inform you insurance obviously.

When the insurance will allow it (and assuming the braking/suspension/tyre upgrades are in place), outting a Punto 1.2 8v engine in there is a very cheap way of improving performance.

The extra 6 or so bhp isn't the main factor, but the extra torque makes the car much nippier and easier to drive.

Can be done in an easy weekend with a mate and a crate of beer. (Summer recommended.)

I will be having some new discs and pads fitted for the front hopefully in the near future, its about the only thing that won't affect my insurance :(

Hopefully it will improve the feel, at the moment if I slowly come to a stop when the brakes are warm it wobbles, like the brakes are being sort of modulated on and off

I do intend to get the coolant changed sometime this month or the next, its a bit brown and nasty.. I'm also loosing water somewhere, it usually needs a top up from Min to Max every month.

I will be thinking about getting it lowered in September when my insurance needs renewing because at the moment I think they quote me about £700 extra for it at the moment

Lot's of plans but the insurance means some things will have to wait (n)

Love driving my Cento though :D
