Hello guys!

After replacing the timing belt, the engine started making a strange noise around 1500-2500 rpm. I don't think it's engine-related, as the noise only appears at certain rpms. The service center where I had the car serviced said it was nothing serious and I could continue driving without citing the source of the problem.

Another service center suggested it was the alternator bearing, but I doubt that either, as the bearing hums, not creaks, and should hum constantly, starting at idle.
What do you think?

Hi, I'm sorry you haven't received any responses to your posts, not sure why.
Anyway, welcome along @spoooky, hope things are well with your sei :)

Has this noise only appeared since the timing belt change?

You could remove the aux belt temporarily to confirm if it's the alternator. And turn the alternator by hand to feel if the bearings are rough

Edit: I could play the video after all

That sounds like the alternator. As above, it's simple to prove it.. just disconnect the aux belt and start the engine (ignore all the warning lights about alternator current).

Check the aux belt tension though.. could be it's just a bit too tight and the alternator is complaining.

We have a whining following cam belt change. Non standard belts are VERY subtly different to OEM parts This it seems causes some post cambelt whine. Something to do with a slight slot in the backs of belt teeth. Ours continues to run really well but make the noise. Another (genuine Fiat) belt tensioner made no difference.

I can't hear the noise in the video.
@spoooky, did you get it sorted out? Was it the alternator?
Hello guys!
Thanks everyone for your time and responses!

Yes. It was a alternator or a water pump, i don't remember :D.
The service center where I had the car serviced admitted their mistake and redid the work.
The noise is still there, but it's not as loud or intense.

I think the bearing was damaged, so the only option now is to replace it. They refuse to redo the work, saying everything will be fine. We'll see.
Once it warms up outside, I want to see what the problem is myself.

My guess would be the cam belt was too tight and it is the water pump or tensioner bearing making the noise, it may be quieter now they have possibly backed off the tension on belt, but nothing to say it won't fail early now.:(
