HNY all,

For a few weeks I've had what can only be described as a broken spring sound which sounds like it's coming from the engine bay. It only seems to happen when I come off the accelerator and brake, or engine brake (even then not all of the time though it feels like it's getting worse)

I've attached a video, first hear it at 2-3 seconds, 6-8 then again at 10 though there's some other sounds making it harder to hear at the 10 second mark.

Have an MOT next week so hoping my local garage may be able to fix though i've gone to them with sounds before and of course it disappears the day they look at it!

So does noise not happen if you put car in neutral anmd slow down?
My thoughts are a engine or exhaust mounting bracket moving under deacceleration with loading as in gear.
If it made a similar noise on pulling away it may be the DMF flywheel.
Can you, with engine switched off duplicate it by shaking the engine vigoursly?
Is anything else loose around the engine?
