Does anybody know of a guide on how to change the LED's to white ones behind the speedo? I've got an m-jet. I know you need to solder them and I'm sure i've seen a guide somewhere on the internet. Thanks in advance! :)

I'm going to be attempting this in the next week or two, so will let you know how it goes.

Its fairly easy, there's only 6 to solder if you're just doing the speedo/revs/fuel/temp backgrounds. The trickiest bit I found was getting the needles back on in the right place so that the gauges all read correctly.

You definitely do need a temperature adjustable soldering iron, so you don't fry every LED, a tiny nib (I think used a 0.5mm) and a pair of tweezers (curved needle nosed are probably the best).

If I was to take my dials out again I'd probably put some white paper over the green circuit board too, the white lights tend to reflect off the green and make an ever so slight green-y look to the dials.

Edit: just seen you'd posted in my original thread... sorry I'm not on here much and I hadn't checked that far back.

Edit 2: one tip I'd advise is to have a half dead AA (<1.5v) battery on hand to test each LED before and after soldering to ensure that it works all the time - 3V definitely fries them.

As for the website, its pretty well known - ebay.co.uk

Are what I got but I got 100 thinking they'd be all the same in the different parts of the dash - I was wrong.

Drop me your address by PM and I'll stick 15 or so of my spares in the post for you - I must have like 70 left over not doing anything!

Edit:
These are 2 of the ones for one of the speedo/rev dials - the ones on the left and the right, the third "middle" one in the photo is the red one for the needle itself - at least I think its red.
I took photos of each I changed ensure the new ones went on the right way round - the notch has to be the right way, as they are diodes...

GavinAshford, thanks so much for your help. I'm hopefully gonna do everything on the interior, I hate the orange with a passion, I've got HID's, LED number plate etc so I want the whole package haha. I can imagine maintaining the dial position is difficult. Very little soldering experience though (n) but hopefully should work out. Thanks again! I'll get on with it as soon as I get a soldering iron!

The only ones you cant do true white are the fan/temp/direction dials, they're just a white bulb behind them and the orange is part of the sticker/position indicator, annoyingly. If you have the dual-zone then it should be all LED I'd expect.

The ones on the stereo are the hardest for sure, they're tiny 0.8 x 0.5mm and I burnt out at least half of the ones I did when doing those. Good luck with it though!

I've got a single din headunit mod, so not a problem there! As for the temperature/speed/direction area..can I just remove that piece of white plasticcy paper over the bulbs or is the physical dial area have an orange tinge to it? If so, that's annoying haha.
