hey has anyone changed the green lights of the tachymeter and speedometer to another color??like orange or red???

i ve seen many other cars that have done this they look sweet

i was wondering if a full orange or full red would look good!!more sporty!!
anyone know??

Hi mate,

I have literally just taken delivery of my replacement mph speedo face!

From looking at it, the numbers on the speedo dial are green because there is green transparent plastic on the reverse side. There is red plastic on the reverse for the warning lights.

I'm sure if you were clever and good with a craft knife, you could cut out the green bits and replace the holes with a different colour sticky plastic.

I haven't had chance to fit the new dials, so I don't know how hard they are to take out and put in. I was told to be especially careful with the needles...

i thought there was a green tape on the inside
now the question is how difficult is it to get the instrument out of the car and see how to take off the green tape donno if its worth it cuz i dont want to damage the needles or anything else

Changing the dials is the easy bit, changing all the other things in the dash that are green is the problem :-( window switches, heater dials and so on...

I was thinking of looking in say max power mag to see if anyone specialises in this kind of thing.

I would like to change all the green and put in blue.

as well as a barchetta i also have a new seat altea great car, but for the red dash lights belive it or not its very hard to see clearly

I had a crack at replacing the dial faces last night. Long and short of it was I gave up pending a few queries!

I managed to get the cover off the dash, cover off the dial casing and then I got stuck.

I was unsure on how wise it was to unplug the wires from the back of the dial set. Can these be unpluged without any side effects, like them not worknig after as there may be some sort of tamper system in place?

I was also unsure if I could pull off the needles from the dials. This seemed necessary to change the face, but they didn't seem to want to come off easily and I didn't want to push it! I had already lost a small counter weight inside the dial set, by pulling off the covers on the middles of the needles.

The holes did seem just about big enough to come over the needles, but damage seemed imminent so I put it all back together and left it!

Any advice from anyone who has the service manual CD's?

seems like you in deep waters with this so i mn ot even considering trying to change the colors!!i can live with green !!

wish you luck with it ...maybe you should go to a specialist for it

Oh no, don't be put off. It wasn't a big deal to take it all apart. I just need to know if the needles pull off and whether you can unplug the whole dial unit from the car. If answers are both yes, then it's pretty easy!

Specialist?! Nah, there isn't one to my knowledge! I'm better off doing it mesefl, then i'll be the specialist! LOL!

i would suggest disconnecting the battery as there may be a small resistance between the Airbag & seatbelt which would trigger the airbag light to stay on, I found this out when unplugging the seatbelt warning connection and had to get it reset as a result.

Other than that i see no reason why it can't then be disconnected & removed

Here We Go Guys!!!

I Ve Found It!!!!!!!!!

Let Me Know Who Is Interested!!!hehehe

they also can sell you a blue sheet that you can cut and plcae in other green colored areas like window buttons etc etc!!!!!

Okay that's shed a little light onto things... I'm still not sure about the needles though. The translation is a little ropey in the .pdf file! Can anyone confirm that the needles just PULL off?

changed mine to blue last year dash takes about 2 hours to strip change bulbs and reassemble you need approx 20 bulbs from what i remember big difference to standard bulbs

drop steering wheel to lowest position

take off cover round steering columm watch though bottom comes easy and there is 2 screws inside holding top one on dont force till these screws are out

remove 4 allen screws on dash

remove gently its a tight fit once removed disconnet three connections to back of dash

now you should see the twist lock type bulbs just swap them
