As title, Think I have unscrewed the wrong 2 bolts. the bottom one which I unscrewed which I thought was the drainage hole looks like it was holding the gear selector linkage. still loads of gb oil came out.
but when I squirt the new oil back in it just flows straight back out the hole. what am I doing wrong?!
please someone help as I need to use my car at half 7 :(

Dan

Dan there should be a filler hole approx half way up the box.

Daz

thats where I'm putting it in and its just coming straight back out again.

:(

what am I doing wrong ffs :(

Dan

That would indicate its full then...unless its the wrong hole?

Daz

Anyone have any pics...

bloody haynes manual is useless as it says not to bother doing it :(

theres onl 2 plugs. one at the bottome and one a lil further up.
I've drained it yet it wont go in and just comes straight back out the filler hole :(

Dan

Use one of these, it may fix your problem...

its a 1.2...
on most occassions dude I'd be laughing but this isn't funny.

I think it was overfilled as its stopped pissing out now so I'll just leave it.

Dan

Sorry mate...

Don't worry about it. Didn't think you could overfill the gearbox?

It's the large plug with the 12mm allen key inner. Located on the front of the gearbox

Forgot to mention.

Make sure the car is on a level surface.

After you have squirted the oil in, wait a few minutes for it to flow back out and level itself with the rim of the filler hole (large hex thing).

Just did mine on saturday lol

Wuda done mine on Sat but couldn't shift the drain plug.

Dan, I suspect you've done what I nearly did.
There is the 12mm one that is easy to get to up front. Then around the housing 90 dgress is a ten mil one. I figured this must be one you drain out of, but it aint. You have to look further back down near the plate that the wishbone attaches too, and the other (12mm) drain is there (bloody hard to get at).
There is actually a picture of the drain plug in haynes on page 1-20 (fig 27.9)
