The FIAT diesel is also used in the Suzuki Swift
My guess is GM arent too worried because they wont be loosing out if one fails in a Corsa. Surely if they have bought the engine from Fiat, Fiat have to guarantee it, NOT GM. I imagine GM would carry out the repairs if the HG fails in one of their cars then pass their costs on to Fiat who manufactured and supplied the engine in the first place. There will be a very complicated contract somewhere signed by both GM and Fiat that was drawn up as part of the deal to buy/supply the engines and it will plan for and cover eventualities like this. GM might even make money out if all of this if they were sharp enough to insist on compensation clauses on their side of the contract to cover for design and manufacturing defects attributable to outside suppliers.
if you look on top of your diesels engine you'll find fiat and gm written on it
i believe it was a joint development between fiat and gm
anyway the company that supply the head gaskets is ultimately responsible for the problems fiat don't make them there selves

Joint ventures do not neccesarily mean joint liabilities, its what is written on the various contracts and agrements that matter, not what is written on the engine.
I thought the claim that a company as large and as reponsible as GM are sticking their heads in the sand over an issue as serious as this as strange to say the least...... a bit of searching turned this up.....

are that's good then actually vauxhall have a habit of being seriously tight i know cos my uncle has to run them as a company car trying to get anything from them under waranty is a nightmare
as for were i herd it well i was talking to a customer also the farther of one of my friends that has a 1.3 corsa diesel and he got wind of this head gasket thing probably from me lol so he asked vauxhall weather his would be affected and they said yes but there not doing anything with sold cars yet
but it seems according to that link they are fixing the ones they still have
ill keep you up to date on weather his gets fixed
that is weather he don't get rid of it first
