My central locking system only works when I’m stood right next to the door... is this because of a ‘trauma’ to the key? It stopped working one day when I adjusted the time on my clock. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or do I need to get another key? ??

Welcome. I presume you refer to the remote control function of your central locking?
If so the battery is probably on its way out in the key and in need of replacement

Two things,a new battery, even if it's not that old, and if the buttons are looking a bit tired this can effect the operation, a new rubber button insert £3 is available on ebay- this can help in operation, that said ours is temperamental with a new battery and new buttons, but it is 12 years old. Kinda begs the question - just where is the remote receiver in the car located?
I’ve a feeling it’s part of the body computer, but could be mistaken.
