Can anyone explain why the CD Player in my 500 Pop does not always eject the disc the first time I press the eject button.Sometimes I have to turn the engine off and then back on to get it to eject and sometimes it only partially ejects just enough so that I can grip the disc.

There is now a disc stuck in the player.I tried three disc's before this one and they came out ok so put this one back in and whatever I try I cannot get it out maybe there is a problem with disc.If or when I get it out I will copy it onto another disc and then try that one.May have to pop into my local Road Radio shop and get them to take a look tomorrow. The disc still plays ok which seems strange.

Has the errant disc got a paper label of some sort that might have lifted?

No this was a brand new blank CD from a new pack.I copied one of my CD's to use in the car but there was no label.I have now managed to get it out by putting second CD in and than pressing the eject button. This worked on the third try and I then copied that CD onto another blank one and there was no problem with it as it came straight out.Could have been a faulty disc but will keep a eye on it in future.Thank's for your reply

Yes that is another possibiity but will not take a chance by trying it in my wifes carl

On most slot loading CD players there are usually a pair of rollers and as the disc lifts off the spindle, the bottom roller lifts and grips it against the upper roller and then it's powered out of the slot.

Anything contaminating the rollers making them slippery can effect this, another possibility is the springs that exert the pressure on the disc rollers becoming weak.

All very uncommon problems.

The only other possibility I can think is that something inside the mechanism is obstruction the disc coming out, I seem to think fiat have a couple of pins that come down and stop any other discs being put it, maybe these aren't lifting properly
