CD drive stuck

Hello everyone!

as the title says my cd drive has got stuck. its been fine ever since we've brought it nearly 2 years..but the other day we opened it and it got stuck.. and wont go back into the computer, when you push the button you can hear the motors turning but it wont budge!

any suggestions anyone?

have you tried pushing it back in?

if it moves in and out it cant be something stuck :chin:

yes ive tried pushin it in.. its compeltly jammed.. wont go in atall.

Unbend a paper clip and put it in the little hole in the front and close the tray, get a new one after this, considering the price they ain't worth fixing really.

Exactly, cost about £7 or so for a standard CD-Rom drive.

it aint a problem with it not working as the PC has 2 drives.. its just its sticking out and just wont go back in tried forcing it but dont wanna push so hard it snaps the bay

IVE ALREADY SUGGESTED THAT!! only to get a bollocking about it being her computer and shes not snapping it off

Get the paper clip into the little hole on the front panel and it will slide in or it should.

if she cant push it in, its jammed either the mechanism or the motor itself

all the little button does is force the motor to opperate (which if its jammed shouldnt work )

Liam, there is no front panel really.. its one of those HP PCs where the drives are built into the case, i know there is a proper drive in there somewhere but theres no access to it from the outside

I thought the paper clip trick only worked if the drive was stuck IN?

but a pete said, its jammed.. theres defo stopping it going back in as really it should just push in and out whether the motor works or not

Rightly so I have put a tray in with the paperclip but not exactly a great effort to try it.

You'd need to take it to bits then.

You'll have to take it out from inside the case and replace it with a new drive by the sounds of it. unless you fancy taking it to bits (the drive that is)
