A £200 air filter that claims 18BHP on a saxo gives 4BHP on an HGT.
You will get more MPG without the cat but no more power.

I don't really like that side of it, but what Tom says is definately true. "A decatted 1.2 will pump out less crap than a catted 5 liter petrol land rover (with 21 airbags) - And old people like Tom that drives 'em"

Me and my mates car, both exactly the same. 1999 (T), 1.2 16V both in Lichen Green I've got a SS air filter, he's got a dodgy air filter. The only difference between our cars is that I have a de-cat and he doesn't.
His car: The machine that recorded our cars power reported after angeltuning was 49bhp at the wheels.
My car: My car after angeltuning was 74bhp at the wheels.
Surely I can't get THAT much power from just a de-cat?¿ But there is one hell of a difference there.

With a 5-10% gearbox loss that still puts your car at about 80BHP. I think their machine is broken or a liar.

wat ian failed to mention(the ****in donkey)is that mine has 17 inch wheels a standard gear box and a non decatted exhaust,this is why he has more bhp,any way niges machine is not the most accurate of machines(no offence) and was liable to be affected by a number of things:
wind speed change

type of start
different route down road eg grids,pot holes,white lines
p.s. ian has 17s now so any power ratings he gives are about as useful as a paper condom or chocolate fire guard,the only true test to my knowledge is rooling road or from the fly wheel.

at the end of the day it isnt the emissons there bothered about. ur car is only taxed for the emissons of a 1.2 that y its cheap. and ppl with 5 ltr tankers with bumper car bumpers on it and go faster strips pay massive tax.

Andy, I've already had this discussion with Tom.
He told me that because I have a shorter ratio gearbox, it fools the car into thinking that it's a lot lighter than it actually is. Same goes for the 17" Wheels.
Tom.. I've got the sheet to prove it But yeah there are other limiting factors too.

Niges machine should have a setting for final drive. Even so the figures are pure bullshit.
