im toying with the idea. and after my boot build i realised the 15" isnt gonna fit. but i still want 1. so i went to look at the glove box. now my question is if i remove the glove box can i fit a motherboard in there. then run a cable up to a monitor

no need to get like that nige... im good with computers... i just dont know if it will fit in the glove box...

if you have ever removed your glovebox there is a cover at the rear, if you take this cover out the glovebox is actually not a bad size.

i am sure you could fit a small pc in there obvioustly nothing like a midi tower etc but a small pc should fit fine.

easyest way is to nip to your local pc component shop and ask for the snallest components/case they have get the measurements and then measure the inside of your glovebox, no real easy way around it i am afraid

and if you are only useing it to play mp3's or streem video then you can get p3's which will fit in tiny pc's and will have enough processing power to do everything u will need.

you dont even need a real case just a motherboard (micro atx would be a good starting point) and a psu, you could make your own case out of wood or plastics or whatever fits :), as long as you can keep the dust out and prevent static and anything touching the mobo.

seeing as you dont like post check out your nearest maplins they've got some mini and micro atx boards and enough geek knowledge to help you out :)

If ever you hear thunka-thunka-thunka from your front wheel, pull over; you may well find you have only two wheel nuts left and both of those are probably loose! Not that that has ever happened to me, honest!

i have a pc to put in. 1.7 gig 256 ddr ram, geforce 2. so it plays movies and mp3's. was gonna stick a dvd slot drive in the glove box aswell. open the door on the front and have the slot drive there and pc hidden behind it.

but i didnt know if it would fit

I measured mine to try and get it in the glove box, but it wasn't even close (I had a small formfactor PC).

Your better off going for a MiniITX or even a NanoITX (They supply motherboards with everything built in, and are stupidly small)

If i removed all of the outer case, i may have been able to get the motherboard in there, but couldn't get the CPU fan or the G/card to fit.

Have a looksee on here...

...while your there, have a look a some of the projects...i got some good ideas from there...

If you get a carputer, get an Opus

www.opussolutions.co.uk

check out www.mp3car.com for in car questions FAQs on anything you could possible have a question to.

i completed mine a month or two back, im well chuffed with it. Mini itx 1ghz pc with 256 ddr 20 gb laptop hd running off an opus. Its neat, quiet and consumes less than 50 w or power (as opposed to around at least 100w depending on your pc)

If you running agp, then you'll need about 20-30w to be safe just for that, if your cpu is an AMD - around 50w for that - full atx mobo about 60w.

Seriously conisder an opus or dc-dc brick style psu.

www.linitx.co.uk - uk based itx company
www.itxwarehouse.co.uk - just bought my new case off of them, well cheap and great delivery.
www.ultim8pc.co.uk - good range, helpful lot, few reviews

Any questions feel free to give me a email
