hmm is there some sort of diagnostic I can do myself on the car to check

You won't have air leaking out of a vacuum hose! it's not under pressure, its vacuum, you may hear a hissing but that is air being drawn IN, not forced out, If it were a vacuum hose I would expect to have heavier brake pedal as well,

not sure if this will help but when gas is pushed the vibrating stoped and white smoke seems to be coming out

Well if you can get your car to run on water let us all know the secret! Of course it would cause a problem, if you are getting enough coolant getting into the cylinder you should notice the level going down in the expansion bottle.

YES.. head gasket is a common enough issue.

However..
Crazeboy you assured us youd got NO SPARK
That is the obvious cause of misfire!!

DO check the coolant though..

When were spark plugs last changed..?as that could be related to damaged circuit in ECU.

I seem to have a spark on all cylinders after check this morning. I think it's the head gasket -.-

They are pretty clean however looks like it's been burning fuel or something as tip is black

Black - running "RICH"

are all 4 the same colour though..??

As your car is 8 Valve, the engine is pretty simple to work on..,

check the coolant level is still good,
then let us know ..,

hi is there alink for the plug and play ecu i cant seem to find them

Since its picking up ONLY cylinder 1 as been at fault
I'd be inclined to steer away from a new engine ECU

Why?
When the ecu's fail on these - they fail on a driver for the coil
1 coil not firing kills 2 cylinders on the 8v'

You need to assertain why it think cyl1 is missing

Lack of fuel? - injector / wiring issues?
Lack of compression? = Worn bore or piston / burnt valves - blown head?
Lack of air ? = something got sucked into the inlet by accident?
Lack of spark = Duff HT / Spark / dying coil that failing on 1 side?

Ziggy

hi my mistake sorry the eml light was on and it came up with cylinder one but it was running fine suddenly last night missfired badly and came up with 1 and 4 on obd from rac had new coil pack leads and plugs still. the same

Could something have got sucked into the inlet, is it worth taking it off to check.

How can I do a compression test. As I have checked my water levels for cooling system and it was full more then I remember it and not bits in the water or nothing so not to sure

Thank you
