Hi guys,

I wonder if someone can help me out as i am fully confused on what is causing such an issue.

The car is a fiat punto 1.2l 8v MK2 2004 plate

The problem first occurred when i was driving and out of no where i lost power and the car was shaking when no gas was applied however took very long to pick up speed. I have not driven it as i do not want to cause any more damage.

When i first put the code reader on it came up with P0300 and P0301, Which if i am not mistake is multiple misfire and cylinder one misfire.

I checked the plugs and replaced the plugs however still had both codes coming up so ive changed the HT leads which has removed the P0300 code however i still have cylinder 1 misfiring, i am not sure what to check or what the issue could be would be great if someone could help me.

Thanks in advance,

Hi mate,

I know the exact symptoms you mean as i had this problem not long ago,
The readings are for ignition coils so i took mine to garage and the mechy fit new leads, spark plugs and coils and it did not solve the problem so i had to go to the next point which is ecu . . . I was quoted 600 for a replacement by fiat . . .so i ordered a plug and play ecu off ebay for 75 quid and fitted it myself then my car was working again.
I had to drive the car around for a while at low revs for it to learn the cars paramaters but it was fine after.

Hope this helps

would you defo say that it is the ecu that has had it?

I cant say defo but its the exact same problem i had and a plug and play ecu sorted it mate i have a thread regarding this if you check my profile.

Hi, :)
take the HT lead and plug from cylinder #1 , and put it on the manifold heat shield,
see if it sparks.. ( don't touch it..!!);)

no spark points to coil pack,
you can swap the coil packs quite easily to see if it IS the coilpack..,

I've switched the coil pack around hover the issue still lies with cylinder 1

Guys i have been looking around the web and i have seen people saying the a vacuum leak at the throttle body can cause this can anyone confirm and tell me how i can diagnose this..

Thanks

BASICS:

your car shudders/has a rough idle,
there are MANY things that cause this:eek:

you've already said removing the HT lead on cylinder #1 makes no difference..,
so the issue is that cylinder #1 isn't running correctly:(

it's either,
FUEL
Spark,
or no compression

investigate more thoroughly to detect which.., ;)

for leaks on servo vacum hose start car and you should hear hissing air commin out of it or go around it with your hand and feel where it blows

Yea I checked it found no leaks on that hose at all

Ask them how they diagnosed the ECU

There is fuel, a spark and coil packs are working as the misfire stay's at cylinder one so they said was an ecu issue

even tho I'm confused how it would only effect one cylinder
