Technical Car Securety Failure - Has anyone resolved this?

Stilo 1.6 Dynamic broke down 26 Oct, and haven't seen it since!
Was taken to an autoelectics specialist, who sent the ECU away for inspection.
Problem .. Car Security failure and lock sign.
On inspection they said that there was a fault on the ECU, but couldn't repair it. They bought a virgin plug and play.. fitted it... but is coming up with the same fault and wont start. :bang:
Absolutely lost for words! Have been crawling the site for solutions, but cant find a thread that shows this problem being resolved.
Please help as I'm desperate to get this car on the road.

run diagnostic check and post error codes.

thats usually a few things, fault with the ariel on the ignition, fault with the key itself, low battery voltage, or a fault with the body computer/ECU or immobiliser unit, as said above getting the car checked on FES would give you some kind of error code to narrow down the issue

Has the fuse box under the bonnet got its lid, Has the fuses got wet at all.

Reason i ask last week i powerwashed mine and got the fuse box under the bonnet wet and when i tried to start the car was getting the same error.
Managed to buy a 2nd hand one (Fusebox) from a seller on ebay stuck it on and bingo no more car security error. I guess all fuses and relays have been checked too?

Might be worth a try.

And yes download a copy of Fes and buy a cable from ebay to read codes.

Left a message for the electrican to get back to me with the fault codes - and the devil didnt ring me back.

I think they've check the votage and wiring etc. I've sent them the wiring diagrams for the d4 and arial antena ring and unit.

As soon as I've got the codes, I'll post them up

The only code up now is U1600.
They have sent the second supposed virgin plug and play ECU back for inspection.
If it comes back fault free....
Should they do the following:
Fitted replacement ECU,
max the battery up to full power,
manually start the car with key code....

If still not starting and releasing the immobilizer fault....

Should I just get a new key? and also replace the anenna unit?

U1600 is normally the ariel getting a correct response from the key, do you have a second key to try?

U1600 is failed immobiliser. Take the car to Fiat, they can confirm and recode your existing key back to the car, if that fails they can supply you with a new one for about £160.

The virgin ECU has been sent back to be tested, and hopefully this will be back by Tues.
If no joy will drag her sorry bum to Fiat and get the key recoded. I will keep you posted.
