My brother is 17yrs old and is currently learning to drive. My granddad has offered him his x reg punto ELX 1.9jtd. The cost of insurance it is between £2700 to £4500.

Does anyone know any good Fiat diesels he could buy so he can start to collect his no claims bonus?
We thought about a 1.9JTD Bravo like mine but that cost even more (newer car i guess).

True. My dad after getting him a diesel through due to the miles he'll be doing. I'm just happy it's a Fiat he is after, mind you, all the cars in my family are Fiats :D

If it's cheaper in the first year for a petrol i'm sure he can survive :)

I've got a 1.9 JTD Doblo, i pay just under £2 grand on my own name with Liverpool & Victoria. They also gave me a years no claims bonus straight off (which is why it's under £2 grand) and that's fully comp with a fairly low excess. Try them :) if you go with them, do one online first, call them up and if you've already done one online they'll give you the same price over the phone too!

ask your brother to try this company insuresupermarket.com

and tell your brother to add your mum or dad as a named driver which evers got the most no claims bonus. doing this should lower his premium quite considerably.

worked for me wen i was young and still working now

and on the plus side it alows them to drive your car fully comp if they should ever need to

my brother got a Panda 750, added me and my mum onto the policy and it worked out at about £650!!! think that was with Budget insurance, i dont think youl get cheaper than that at 17!!!

im 17 and taking my test and ive got a cinquecento 1.1 sporting. all the quotes i had for me on my own were between £2k-£3k. im insured through loyds tsb in my mothers name with me as a named driver, and my mum has been on my dads business insurance for the last 20 sumit years,so she has no no claims bonuses and my insurance is £895 fully comp with £600 excess

try premiumchoice insurance i found it in the back of max power magazine!!

i insured a 2ltr 16v tipo (group 15 insurance) for £1439 for my first car i'm now £700 with 1 yr no claims good company check them out

Well I found it cheaper to be added to my parents policy for first yr or 2. I think anything over 1000 is just rediculous. Im now 19 with Zero no claims and ive got a quote for 590quid fully comp on a Grande Punto Sporting (Group 6). Again that was with liverpool victoria. I think there cheap overall for Fiat's :).
