Andrew;
Purely by a massive stroke of luck (and fairly determined detective work) I have a copy of all 7 sections of the articles 'Fiat 500 into Lusso Abarth' by Dr George Macgruer. One of the sections has pictures of his car having the wheel arches attended to---would you like a copy of this article? If you would, contact me direct with your address please.

Hi Tom

Many thanks

I love the look of the filler! Thanks!
The idea is still possible - a few comments that disagreed - but then who'd paint it blue and banana yellow????

That looks like fun!
They look quite different on 10" rims/shirt buttons.
I will have my engine lid closed as I have a modified 500 / 600 amalgam - but mine will do some track / rally work

Rebuilt the quarter lights and all the door internals - all rubber and seals changed.
Next is to treat all chrome to the Gtecniq super expensive treatment - hoping to keep the rust at bay. Italian chrome is not very good......

Steve
Is the idea for chrome protection to polish using an Autosol type metal polish and then apply Gtecniq with a paintbrush?
I have bought C2.

Hi Andrew

You can polish to get shine/finish you want. Then add c2 over the top. For c2 give it a light spray, and spread lightly with a microfibre, MF, cloth. Then lightly rub off with a separate MF Cloth. You don't have to buff it, just remove any residue. Then recoat. You'll notice on the 2nd coat, that c2 goes further, and when rubbing off, that cloth starts to glide across surface.

2nd coat is just to make sure that you've got an even coating, and can be applied straight after first.

cheers, Steve

Took my troops into central Turin and visited Andrea at Passione500.
I was hoping to unearth some rarities but his business is in everything standard for rebuilding a 500......so although a little disappointed I still left with the remaining standard parts needed to rebuild my car.
It's off to the paint shop next Monday.....then it will be ready!!!!

Steve, No I didnt.
We stopped off on day 1 for breakfast in Turin and found it as described rather industrial and not for small tourists. We would of shopped then but it was closed for holidays.
I pushed my luck by taking the family back to the city for my shopping on our return from the beautiful country villa retreat that we had such great fun at.
In typical Italian style my simple shop took an hour meaning we had to get a serious move on to get home.....9 hours at an average of 95 mph....

The car is off to the paint shop tomorrow. Cannot wait to discuss final details before a blue and yellow monster returns.
The Borrani rims require powder coating then MOT.
I've managed to get a full set of OILO FIAT rally stickers - It will follow the 131 Abarth Monte Carlo look of the 1970's

Hi

It must be satisfying to have the car n the paint shop now. Hope it's progressing well.

A little while ago you mentioned the spot weld drill and that you worked out a good method for using it on the spring seats

Could you post a picture of he drill?

Cheers

Geoff

Hi
attached pictures of spot weld removal drill bits.

I was aprehensive as we loaded my car on the trailer.......I have invested so much time into it - and now it was time for someone else to do their part - I hoped they would of bought into my vision - rather than dismiss my ideas as folly.......
A 40 mile drive flew by and we unloaded it - all my fears disappeared as the owner came out to state "I've been looking forward to this job!!!! Lets get it in the shop!!!" Music to my ears!!
He told tales of many a project Mk1 & 2 escort being fitted with forest arches in hisworkshop......so that part was all good - and as i handed the panels over and gave him a banana yellow GRP arch and described the paint job - he got the paint scheme immediately!!
Threee weeks and counting - before a wide arched beauty is returned ready for re-building!!

i found some great guys for the livery @ www.isaydingdong.co.uk look them up - they've a great selection......

Glad to hear it's coming along. I've bought some great period correct logos/stickers from that website too.

I'm on hold at the moment, renovating our unit so all my furniture is stored in the garage, and the car is stored in a workshop more than an hour away. I'm eagerly watching your build to get my "fix"
