Technical Cant match my colour :( Help...

Hi guys

Got a 2000 model `W` Plate punto

I went to halfords and they said code 647 is Gregio grey

So i got he paint and started on the touch up on the rear arch and its loads darker than the colour i need..

Is there a variety of variations for this?

Any help trying to get a closer match would be appreciated

2000 to 2013
That 13 year of sun fade

All colours slowly fade, others faster then some ( red for example)

and halfords colour matching is pure ****e anyway

Yeah i no sun fades the colour but the 647 isn't even close its literally like a gunmetal grey in comparison :/

Maybe get them to do another put whole its in the pot before mixing take it out and check and add a bit of white to dull it down a little..

Before pressed into the can :/

Personally, I'd go to a good automotive paint suppliers... -- it's amazing what they can achieve by way of matching old paint.... :worship:

how about finding your actual paint code?

There's probably loads of threads on this; I may be wrong in saying it's on a sticker on the slam panel when you open the bonnet

I got a rattle can of blue to match my car from a good online store, it's a fair bit different, but you have to experiment to get it as close as possible.

As homeward says, if you want it done well, it can be done, just going to cost you more.

I dunno why everyone wants to do it the hard way. Drive the car to an automotive paint dealer. They'll match the paint to the colour your car is now, pop it in an aerosol or sell you cellulose. Easy.
