Technical Can't get engine up to temp

Hi all When I turn the heater blower on in my car the engine cools away down and I can't get it up to temp, is this normal or is something faulty

Stuck open thermostat.

Yah ..probably thermostat stuck open... if the engine does not reach tthe midle of the temp gauge in a 10 mile run.. then it's time to replace it.

what engine ?
I believe the 1.4 16v is a right pain to change the thermostat.

In the 70's, we used to block off part of the radiator with cardboard to increase the water temperature.
Probably not the best advice in the world, but it used to keep us warm during the winter months.
