Hi everyone, My cigarette socket stopped working after I plugged a tyre pump into it. I've checked all my fuses with a meter by taking them out 1 by 1, all working. So what's stopping the power to the socket? There must be a blown fuse somewhere but I can't find it.
I've seen the guide on installing a power socket into the center console and the location of the 20A fuse in the engine bay.
Mine is there and working as the heater motor noise is heard when I reconnect it.
Does this mean the relay is working to? As long as there's power to the fuse I guess it should make it to the socket, or is the relay after the fuse? Any help on this would be wonderful, thanks! Richard.

Post a photo of the engine bay fuse box
Done, see below, see what you make of it, thanks!

Has the cigarette socket ever worked properly, without the headlights on

Most Active didn't normally have one fitted
It was installed after. Yes, it worked with ignition off because I used to have to unplug things so the battery doesn't go flat.

No relay
No fuse
No contacts installed in the fuse box to retro fit a cigarette lighter
OEM should go off with the ignition

The previous owner has added it using there own method

We don't know what this is

Is there an extra wire tagged onto the battery positive terminal

Hi, I don't think so looks original to me..
I know the fuse and relay isn't there where it should be but the this is, I haven't removed anything and the cigarette socket was working.

I'm sure that socket would have been factory fitted as the wires dissappear into the loom with no connections, 3 wires yellow/red, blue/black and I think black.
Yellow/red goes off alone to the right towards drivers side so perhaps to the fuses under the steering wheel.

Showing the 3 wires going into the loom.
Also, I have another spare plug, anyone know wht is for? Windows perhaps?

Your car didn't have a cigarette lighter originally

The fact it was on permanently means it's been dodged by a previous owner

Open the passenger door and look near the hinges under the dash

There is some connectors including D006 the other end of the blue and black wire, post a photo

Wow, you're right, a 7.5A fuse fitted where you said, fuse blown.should I put a 20A fuse there instead?
Thanks for your wisdom 🙏 🙌

No idea, the wires look thin and don't look capable of handing 20A put it's hard to tell from a photo

I also can't see where the power being tapped from

It isn't installed by an electrician, as it's been crimped with pliers

Without knowing more it's hard to advise

The normal bodge is to run a separate fused wire which would have been much easier to work out

I'd stick to 7.5A and not plug anything too current heavy into it, without either running a seperate wire or investigating further

Absolutely not !
It's design for 150 watts max, that's around an 8 amp fuse. 10-15 should be ok, you go 20 and you run the risk of frying your electrics and at that point a lot of money for a new wire harness.
Okay, thanks for the advice, it's working 💪.
I hope this thread helps others too.
I've had no power socket for nearly a year now. I kept trying and giving up.
Thanks again!

Different cars are rated differently

Here on the Panda

The OEM system is rated much more

20Ax14.1V=282W

The problem is this is not OEM
