CANT FILL IT UP!!

Since last week i have been trying to fill up he car, i get 5p worth in and the pump automaticaly cicks off, i have tried this on up to 10 pumps, the pump just keeps on clicking and clicking which is very anoying, the car is empty and i drive 450 miles a week.

Today i put £25 worth of petrol in the car in the same time 4 people completely filled up, as you can imagine annoyed is not the word.

DOes anyone now why this could be happening!!

I used to have this problem! basically i stuck the nozzle right into the car. Dont know if this will work for you but it worked for me. You really have to stick it in ther! lol

Same happens on my Bravo HGT... you have to pull the trigger only 1/2 way or it'll click off.



Basically, the pump is putting fuel in quicker than it can go down the pipe so it backs up and the pump thinks the tank is full.


You can either try pulling the trigger less, or tilting the nossel at different angles untill you find 1 that lets you fill quicker!



It's not the cars fault, just the pumps!!!

Try pointing the nozzle slightly towards the rear of the car with it in the filler - also maybe try it with the nozzle only part way in the filler hole.
If all else fails buy four jerry cans - take them home full and enjoy pressure-free filling in the comfort of your own drive.

Had this problem on both petrol and diesel Bravo's i've had, the trick is to push the nozzle as far in as it'll go and push firmly downwards on the handle. Then you can fill the car up as normal, trigger pressed all the way.

It also works on the Micra K11.

I had this problem on my bravo and it was actually a problem with the anti cyphone pipe It had broken and was obstructing the hole my garage removed it and it fills up fine now not ideal but it has locking fuel cap and id rather that than wait as you say to fill up in the time it takes others to fill up 4 times (VERY frustrating when your late for work)

i hold the nozzle horizontally rather than vertically, handle flat towards the rear of the car and it goes in fine

I also had this problem, I got round mine by having the trigger at the top rather than underneath. been ok since i started filling like that

I've always had this problem, but then I am a patient "older gent", not an impetuous youth.

As for filling up when late for work, fill up after work the night before. Simple!

Cheers for the info guys, i have tried it in all different angles apart from completely upside down, tried the nissel at different angles and it even clicks off when the pertol is trickling - i.e when you are putting in 1 p worth at a time, althought the late for work is not a problem the wanting to smash the car when you cant get fuel in it is really getting on my nerves.
Ill try it upside dow and try shoving it really hard, at first i thoght it was the pumps but after trying so mny with the same problem it cant be!!

Ill keep you posted, failing this i will try to tae the green thing out of the fuel cap and so the nossel just goes in easy, we will see eh!!

Maybe that can be my ex cuse for work - sorry i couldn come in i couldn put fuel in the car!!!

Tried everything, rammed it in, upside down, nothing, quite annoying now!!

There is a green piece of plastic in the hole, can i take that out!!

as above really, it only clicks off because your tank cant take the fuel as quick as the pump is putting it out.

i dont know if there is a breatehr somewhere to let air out as you fill thats blocked? or definately check out your filler tube?

No seriously i know exactly what you mean. have had the same problem for about 3 months. why as of a sudden i dont know.
sorry cant help any more. have tried a lot of the suggestions other than taking the anti syphen pipe out. help me too!!
