Can't enter radio code/radio locked

Hi everyone....need some help with my 500. Radio did the whole enter code thing out of the blue (I've got a 2008 model), couldn't find my code for ages so tried guessing (bad idea), and now I've found my code, it won't let me put the code in! It just says 'wait'! I've been waiting for weeks
How do I reset the whole thing so it lets me enter my code? HELP!

You need to leave the radio and ignition switched on continuously until the "WAIT" message clears.

Depending on how many wrong codes have been tried, the waiting time could be up to 24 hours.
