Is it possible to re-map a non-turbo engine?? Even if its just to get 20-25 more bhp ??

Any contributions appreciated!!

yes you can, but the gain is hardly worth the cash (you wont get a 20bhp peak gain).

it would be better to sell your car and use the remap money to pay the extra for insuring an HGT.

you could buy an HGT for the same price you sell your HLX for so it would be a free upgrade.

A re-map will give you a peak power gain of around 8% and about the same peak torque gain. Driveability will improve and fuel consumption will drop slightly.

To get an improvement of about 20% you need quite a bnit more to be done than a re-map.

yeah but the HGT would be dangerous lol... do they have ESP or TCS atall? my 1.8 wheelspins through third in the wet so imagine what one of them beasties would do...

What insurance group is the bravo HGT? anyone know?

no fancy gadgets on the HGT, but thats a good thing because your right foot is in control instead of a computer.

insurance is group 14, but it isnt as bad as you'd expect. i was quoted £100 more than my HLX.

thats all very well but i'm erm... only 18! :p

i think i would be laughed at if i tried to insure one of them... dont u?

damn... not what i wanted to hear lol but never mind! the 1.8 is quick enough for now

the HGT is double the insurance group than the hlx but it isn't goona stop me trading in mine next year to upgrade to the HGT. I love my bravos and always will there just a thrill to drive.

I will admitt they are a hand full in the wet but it is such a laugh.

One question thou why am i being drawn towards a afla now thou

haha i know, 150bhp for me right now is a lot of power, especially as the hlx beats quite a lot of things on the road! and i've nearly had a couple of slip ups in the wet, its all part of the fun tho! has anyone actually topped out the hlx?? i dont know what the top speed on one is because i havent got the bottle to try it lol...

using my GPS i had 130mph more than once, same as my alfa, even my GF's punto sporting can hit 125mph (but not when she's driving obviously lol)

alfas are a natural progression from fiat. loads of alfa owners are ex-fiat owners.

My dad has a 156  it drives like a dream! and its done 150k miles, he bought it on 80! lol never had one problem.

150bhp - safe? when i'm controlling the right pedal? never... :slayer:

Depends where you start out.. Starting with a 1.8 is pretty good and should give you a healthy respect for the 'brum' pedal. I started with a 1.9 TD which would easily spin its tyres - and compared to friends who drove 1.1 fiestas etc I think after the initial sillyness it made me a better driver.

Now quite happily with 150bhp and a small planets worth of torque. Ready for the 200bhp barrier.
