This is one of the favourite mods of the Greek stilo owners I have searched high and low and cant find it for you :( it may be worth you contacting them fo information if your that serious about it (y)

I am also in the market for a turbo for my 1.6 Active. :D

The person doing the conversion for me said I can put a T2.5 with intercooler on the 1.6 @ 0.3 without making changes to the engine. Except for the exhaust of course.

I am not sure how correct this information is, this is why I am looking for adittional info from peaople who has done this conversion previously. :D

You have to go for a thicker head-gasket as well in order to "work" @ 0.7bar without damaging the engine...

Make sure that you have 2 gearboxes spare 'cause i ve already smashed 2 while having my foot down at 4th gear.....

At 0.7 you should expect 170-180 ps and 230-240 Nm of torgue

A friend and member of www.stilo-club.gr fitted a punto gt gearbox, which solves the problem..

Make sure that you find a good parralel ecu to manage the xtra fuel that the engine would need....I have a custom one, programmed by a greek..

Again i am saying, FOCUS on trasmission...It is designed to "handle" only 155 Nm of torgue..

If you choose T2.5 @ 0.3 bar it would not even "work" correctly..The waste gate is so opened that the 1.6lt do not have the efficiency to rotate the turbo...You would see an upgrade of max 20ps which does not make it a good value 4 money choise....In addition the turbo would not "work" properly as it is designed (efficiency curves) to work @ over 0.6bar up to 1.2 bar....

Be sure that we "are here" but sometimes it is really difficult to follow technical posts..It is all greek to us...:D ...

And yes, we seem to know a bit better when it comes to modifing stilos, 'cause we don't have so strick regulations as far as mechanical modifications are concerned....ex. 1.6 lt turbo pay as much insurance as a natural aspirated 1.6 engine...:D :D ..We can upgrade all parts of the car when no one gives a dime about that...I am sure if regulations where the same in the Island you would have the samge knowledge as far as modifing stilos is concerned...

Some that that have fitted bucket seats, disengage the air-bag sensor electronically, by feeding the same voltage to the central unit...The best mod that can be done in a stilo to improve this part is fitting leather bucket seats from an alfa romeo 166, that already have the side air-bag and the sensors are exactly the same so they just plug the new ones...As far as the co drivers air-bag is concerned, they either place the sensor that is already fitted in the co drivers seat, under the cartpet:) or wire it so that it is on all the time..

Thanks for that we have been trying to work this one out for a while I think this would make a good sticky if you would care to do it and put all the relevant details and pics [not a job I would want ]but it would be so worth while to have this kind of information especially if your thick [like me  ]when it comes to things like electronics and the like [think about it you guys in Greece get together and write it up I for one would be very grateful and indebted to you (y)

hi there, any other experiences during the years? I'm doing my turbo set up right now

to be honest, I'm not so impressed by charging an engine which was not turbo charged originally. if you don't change the interior you can run only on 03,-0,4 bar which is not much, if you change something you really have to know what are you doing...that's why I choose the easier way, want to put in a reconditioned 2.0 16V turbo engine (from a fiat coupe) with its own clutch, flywheel and transmission (with viscodrive) plus the 20vt's big Brembos in the front as well. I have collected the whole stuff for know, will start work on it in a few weeks. keep fingers crossed I hope everything will be ok with the project. There are some bravos here with 20v turbo engine, and they run great...we will see.

I would rather keep the 1.6 Engine and change all necessary parts to get a higher boost. I wont be doing it myself engines arent my forte lol, i would hope that i can get involved in the tuning of my car though. Well see what the guy who's gonna do it has to say. Or how much i will have to pay, i dont have a spare £4000+ lying around.
