I have noticed on my 3 door punto the passenger door is slightly higher and there is a bigger gap between the door and the back window than on the drivers side,it is just catching the wing . Is there any way I can adjust the door ? thanks plus I have also noticed that the door catches the latch on the body if that's what you call it

There is some adjustment where the hinge screws into the pillar. Loosen the screws and move the door as required. You might find that the lock striker on the other pillar then needs a tweak as well.
Was the door replaced at any point or did it get damaged?

Not as I know of but I have not had the car for long

Normally doors don't move over the life of the car. Maybe it got replaced and either wasn't tightened up or whoever did it gave up before getting it sitting right. After a bad smack it can be almost impossible to get everything perfect and you end up with a compromise.

Thank you for the help judging by the state of the car when I got it that would not surprise me, as far as I can tell all the other lines of the car seem ok.I hope it hasn't had a smack

Just a quick update to anyone who is interested I took it to a body shop after taking the check strap off that fell to bits and still didn't get any were (thank you for your help ) The old guy there put a socket in the door hinge gently moved the door and now it is lined ok happy days it looks as if some one opened the door and the wind caught it
