every website i go on, it states a different offset that will fit on a bravo, ive had 30-38, and 35-45!
could someone please tell me the correct offset, and please say that wheels with an offset of 40 will fit?
cheers

It is the distance the inner face that sits on the hub is from the centre vertical plane of the wheel.

Bravo HLX 2 alloy offset is ET38 for a 6J wheel. So wheel is 6" wide. Centre line at 3" and then the mounting face is 38mm (1 1/2") further out from this.

So if you go to 7J width wheel, an extra inch wider, then the off set should decrease by approx 1/2" (divide by 2) 12mm to about 26mm.

Alternatively use spacers to make up the 12mm.

All you need to know about wheels and tyres at:-

This place seem to do Italian fit wheels and maybe could get something you wanted so no BODGES.

im not quite undersanding this,
so if i got a wheel with offset of 40 and the wheel is 8J or 7.5J wide, would i still need spacers for the wheel to fit correctly.
also does it make a difference if the car is lowered?

The offset does not change with the width of the wheel. If one wheel is 1" wider, they distibute the 1/2" each side so the offset stays constant.

If you get wheels with an offset of 40. I don't think that will be ok. Don't spacers increase the offset? (you will have to check)

Spacers decrease the offset, unless you have a negative offset wheel.

Daz, as you correctly say a 7" wheel sticks out 1/2" either side compared to a 6" wheel of the same offset.

Adding 12mm of spacers will change the steering gemoetry and is a bit silly.

well, i have seen an absolute bargain on some 18's that i want to try and make fit, the only issue is the ET 40, would it fit (can it fit)
or would it look stupid at all?

As long as the PCS and Center Bore are correct (or you can get a spiggot ring to adjust the center bore) i believe you will be fine as long as you get 2-8mm spacers.
