You can have two gfx cards running at the same time, it's called SLI for nvidia ones or Crossfire for ati ones...or it was when I built my PC around '07.

Apparently there's a new GPU out now called a Kepler which smokes 3 x nvidia 580s.

However you always disable onboard if you are going to run a card. You can do this via the BIOS.

so i cant run oboard an new one? new one is nothing posh just an asus eah5450 was given to me for free.
it has 1 vga and a hdmi out, i just need to be able to move stuff granson wants to watch so he dont keep kicking me off the pc, i can move it to tv when mrs dave aint here but if mrs dave is here would need to move it to another monitor.

its also got a dvi out too can that go to a monitor?

If it has those 3 outputs then use the DVI to run the monitor and the HDMI for the telly.

Be aware if it's a big telly at a high res the card might struggle to smash out two displays.

Its not completely true that you cannot use the onboard graphics at the same time as using an additional card.

Some mobo's will allow you to use both, although your better off using a card that has 2 outputs and lets you have the shared RAM back.
