hi guys :)
i have a Punto mk1 1108c.c , '97 model, my speedometer board contains a rev, i would like to install a dash board from gt (y)
as i know, the gt speedometer is electric and there is a sensor on the gearbox, does anyone know if this sensor can fit to my gearbox?
any idea how to make the "turbo" indicator to work in some way?
any other help will be greatful!

Nothing actually :) the idea is just not to have a "dead" indicator ;)
of course the boost gauge works with pressure which the 55 doesn't have..
well, nothing wrong if the turbo gauge will not work, but i think it can be replaced by another indicator and work as a rev, but working in a lower scale by changing the resistor for example...? it is just an idea...
unfortunately i don't have a GT dashboard in my hands so i can see the inner design of all indicators..
the main problem is the speedometer.... nobody is sure if it will work...nobody tried before :)
and the cable connections after (i hope will not need many changes on the plugs, you know)

still don't get why you would want to do this, the only advantage would be the oil pressure gauge (and thats only a really small advantage as you have an oil pressure warning light as it is). They don't really look all that different from your existing clocks either.

For the hassle involved in making some work there really ought to be some kind of reason or benefit for anyone to be bothered to try

Nah, there is no advantage, it's about Styling and viewing, the Gt clocks are symmetric, different style, the rev is more at the center and can watch it more easy when drive...now the rev is at the right side of the board, i am doing effort often to watch it and this bothers me sometimes...for sure i would love to have a GT board in my Sporting... and not only me i guess...

cool idea :) but not possible, unfortunately the speedometer can not be moved,
at the back there is a small square plastic base which the speedo is installed in..
for the moment i see three solutions, to install the GT board and make the speedometer to work by install the sensor on my gearbox, or to change the GT Speedo with a 55 one (with some small modification at the back), or to make a new board from polyester and install my speedo mechanism (change the needle and the tach board) and the rest indicators from the GT board..in this case we will have a new GT board with a normal speedometer include no changes to the car cable plugs... all modifications will be on the board only.. i don't say that is easy, it will take time, it needs very detailed job but my experience says that is very possible to succeed.. my Sporting is in good condition, my ex car was a BMW 3 '97, but for some reason i love my Sporting much more, i plan to keep it for many many years, i collect parts (very cheap) and i love to work on it.

thats cause it has infinitely more character and soul than any german car, and even if it does break (which is not more often if looked after) its cheap and simple to fix...

What your talking about is way way out of my area of knowledge but i was thinking more would it not be possible with some wizardry of wiring to leave the actual clusters where they are and just change the fascia's and tehn somehow calibrate them. Like i say, this is not my strong point but thats what i would attempt i think.

There is a polish seicento that has the original speedo in the dash cluster now as the tach and the tach in the middle of the dash now registering speed, just by looking at it you can tell he hasn't actually moved anything, its just wired different and has new fascias. I can't seem to find a pic right now sadly.

strange...but true...i have my Sporting for about one and a half year and i feel the same excited each time i have to drive.. it's a rule that something that is been constracted by few materials, is more simple, easy to use, the damages are very few and the cost is cheap... the first thing i changed in my Sporting was the gear lever dashboard and handbrake dashboard, i think i bought a SX central dashboard (4 doors), only 20 euros, i removed the old ashtray and installed it easily, i also changed the gear lever ball from a Bravo-Brava which is more anatomic, yes, all fit 100% and Fiat Parts!
i bought the back trunk dashboard 15 euros, i made it stronger from the down side by polyester (my speakers are heavy), i will spend another 20 euros to put a new fabric and i will have a new dashboard that will live at least for the next 10 years without any damage...strong, new, beautiful and original... (y)

that's why we are here, to share :)
this Seicento case is interesting :) i am happy i am not the only one that have such ideas :) :)
it's ok, it's nothing urgent, i really appreciate your interest :)

so if oil pump goes bad or not enough oil in engine = oil light will glow?

mmm...very good question.. Yes, but there are two more cases that make the oil light to glow....when Crankshaft's bushings have deterioration then the oil pressure is getting "lost" and the oil light glows and never stop to glow until to repair the engine... but the engine still have lube in this case, but to make sure, you stop the engine at once, you take out the oil refill cap, you clean it, you put it again and turn the engine on for a few (4-5) seconds, stop engine, and take out the cap and look if there is oil on it.. if not, then oil pump is over and you call for assistance.. the other case is the oil pressure valve to be damaged and not working properly or not working at all... the refill cap is the "emergency diagnosis" in both cases..if you see the cap enough oily,at least you can drive carefully to home or to visit your mechanic... Both cases can happen all of the sudden without any sign before... it's the worst horror guys...
