Hi there.
Yep you've guessed it the cam belt has broke on my 1998 Fiat Brava 1.6 16v.
Only doing 25mph & 1500rpm when it went.
Heard no noise at all which was a surprise because I would have thought there would have been a clattering or something to tell me that valves & pistons have met.
Absolutely nothing was heard.
Question is whats the damage as everyone Ive spoken to have said you would heard something.
I know the belts knackered because Ive took the cover off & checked it.
The garage that services the car annually said going on previous experiences its gonna cost between £900-£1000 & thats without even seeing it!

Anybody any idea as, this is believe it or not the 1st time the car has let me down in nearly 5 yrs of ownership.

You've more than likely bent a few valves, hence the lack of any noise.... but that's if you're lucky.

Sorry to hear that - making me twitch a bit as mine is due to be changed next Tuesday - sods law it will go in the next few days!

You may as well scrap the car if valves are damages - sell bits on Ebay and get a scrapper to collect the shell.

Mine was due to be shanged last weekend, snapped the wednesday before.

Sourced a new engine for 150 :)

Or drop on a new head, or engine.
