Technical Cambelt replacement........

My November 2003 JTD has 45000 miles on the clock but as it has passed the 5 year mark I am considering getting the cam belt done this year. I was quoted £300 by Fiat at Inverness and £374 including the water pump (£50 ish for the pump and £20 ish for the antifreeze). Do you think it is necessary to have the water pump fitted at this mileage or do you think it's a waste of money as the current one is still ok?

Also, how many miles/years does the ancillary belt go for as mine still seems to be ok? Thanks.

Its one of those jobs were its best to get it all done at once - if it fails after you've spent on the cambelt job, it'll cost double!
Bite the bullet and get it sorted - or save a lot of hard earned and do it yourself. It ain't that hard, and its worthwhile, you'll be a whole lot happier knowing you've done the job yourself.
Its my form of relaxing - in a dirty fingers fashion, but very satisfying.
George
