Hi guys,
I'm gearing myself up to buy a second hand bravo hgt, but, as usual, my mechanic told me that it would cost a fortune to change the cambelt on it, as the engine needs to come out....

Any u guys done this?

I'm determined for it not to put me off but....???

Hi Tony,

Please don't let it put you off the HGT is a great car.

I'm currently in the process of getting quotes for my HGT cambelt change which will be due in the next few weeks.

I've had a range of quotes from private garages at £400. to a Fiat dealer (JCS Kegworth) who wanted £1298.46

I've found one guy though who has come highly recommended to me who says he can do it for £500. I'll let you know what happens. I'll book the car in mid November.

Just a note Tony-The engine does not have to come out. Fiat recommend it, but it's not the only way to do it. A lot of places will take the engine head off, support the engine and slide it across in the engine bay to get access to the cambelt. And always have the cambelt tensioners and pulleys replaced at the same time as the belt.
