Caliper problem

Almost finished replacing front discs & pads on an 80SX. However, the piston in the o/s caliper will not budge with G-clamp and I can't get the inner pad clips inside the piston.

I did remember to unscrew the master cylinder cap before anyone asks!

Do I risk packing out the caliper with 2 used outside pads and gently pressing brake pedal to get piston to move again, and try again with G-clamp?

Any other suggestions?

use a bit of wd40 on it let it sock in and give it another go try using a pry bar i.e crow bar something alike that should work if not u may need a new caliper

they screw back in mate i think

They don't screw in.

Either its a duff caliper or a failed flexy hose. Either are potentially dangerous and a safety issue.

Only rear disc calipers screw back in... the fronts should just push back in as usual..

Agree - any hint of sticking piston means caliper change required. However, tried again on Saturday when less stressed - used G-clam with the screw part on the bleed valve side of caliper and a slip of wood east/west across the piston (previously did north/south) and the piston shot back in.

Job done, but must remember to check brakes not binding for next few weeks just in case...
