It's not the easiest thing to give an opinion on a vehicle that one hasn't seen, particularly when the year of origin is not known.

For what it's worth I would look at a diesel for the economy and extra power especially if you live in a hilly area, as the petrol is down on power when compared to the diesel.

The spec is ELX which is good but ultimately it is up to you.

Sorry, i missed that! It's 2004, 54 reg. It looks cean from the pics and the seller says it's in good condition in and out. We're off to look at it tomorrow.

Not really hilly here. It's mainly to be used to ferry children and a labrador on short trips, school run etc.

I've kept an eye out for diesels but the only one in our price range had 105k on the clock which seemed a lot.... too much do you think?

Thanks.

105K for a diesel; some would say it's just run in! If they were motorway miles there should be few problems with the running gear and presumably it will be cheaper.

I have 133K on mine and it uses no more oil than when I got it, no oil added between 12k servicing intervals & it's indicating 50mpg on mixed town and rural driving. The engine seems to run better now than it did then, having blanked off the EGR valve.

If you can go back to an 01/02 model, there are quite a few around the £3000 mark, both Diesel and Petrol.
I plumped for an '02 Diesel myself, 115 ELX £2950 85000mls.
