bugger.i cant reverse

hi all.had a slight argument with the driveway gate and it won.i have reversed into the drive and caught the passenger mirror on the gate.it has broke the mirror/surround and the base plate.what is the best and cheapest way to go about fixing this.i was thinking of finding a local scrappy in gateshead to see if they have the parts.is it difficult to attatch the base plate and mirror myself or would you all recommend a garage job.

very easy DIY job, see the haynes manual if in doubt...

and im sure there will be plenty of people on here with spare mirrors and base plats (me included)

Pull off the inside cover and then 3 star drive bolts hold it on I think!

Then the baseplate falls off with the mirror pod. The only the garage would do is charge you money. Just swop it with the one from the breakers.

There is also a guide on here to respray your mirror from the breakers as well.

is it in 3 seperate parts.base plate , pod , and then the mirror and housing.sorry for being ignorant buut im a complete novice.i can get a base plate for £10 off ebay but i cant see the part that the mirror sits on!!

Baseplate - black bit that attaches to the door.
Pod - Coloured bit.
Mirror - mirror! lol

HTH - Should be able to get all of the above from a breakers for £10 to £15. Then £15 worth of paint and wet and dry to get it the same colour as yours.

thnx for that chris.whats confusing me is the base plates on ebay just seem to be flat and dont have the arm bit that the pod sits on.do all base plates have this arm piece?

wot colour do u need??

I have blue, light blue, and red.


if you need a different colour then you'll have to fix ur colour plastic bit.
