Hello,

I have a 1.2 Punto SX. When the engine is cold and you start it, often you can hear quite loud bubbling, which sounds like comming from the center of the dash board. Also, it seems to react on gas pedal (the more you press it, louder it is). It stopps when the engine is warm. The temperature meter, when reaches optimal temperature, it stays precicely there, indicating it's all right. However, the coolant level on the cold motor shows "MIN", while with warm motor the watter is pushed right to the top to the cap and if you open it, it overflows and leaks out for a while. It does this for a while, maybe 8 months, however service-check 6 moths ago was alright.

I was thinking the seal under the motor's head could be gone, but I'm not professional.

Any apparent reason for this? What I should request at service?

Regards,

Oak

Thanks a lot! I kind of didn't believe this may happen, so I'll follow your advice first, this should be easy way to try to solve the problem. (y)

ive just done a flush on a MK2 im repairing and on starting the engine, coolant blasts out of the filler cap. before flushing, the coolant had been left below minimum and everytime i started the car, i got huge air pressure build up in the expansion tank.

do you think it could be an airlock causing this problem or something more serious? thermostat?

well, tried bleeding. no luck. drained coolant (no signs of oil in there) and replaced thermostat, refilled coolant, bled the system, replaced filler cap with a known good one (off my other punto) - still pouring water out of the filler cap within a couple of seconds of starting the engine.

completely stuck for ideas... any suggestions?

Might be a problem with the heater matrix, are all your coolant levels ok?
