General Broken RF window winder

The RF manual window winder would not wind the window down. Part of the wire mechanism came up the side of the window.

I pulled the door card off and found the plastic outer cable sheath section between the winder and the top mount was in 3 parts.

I wound the end off, got some plastic garden hose and slid it over the broken original plastic part and pushed it hard on to each end. I then put small screws in each end to secure it on the mounts where the original had broken. Then I put hose clamps over each end of the garden hose over the screws to make sure the screws stayed in place, and that my garden hose was clamped on to the original housing where the original outer cable sheath had broken.

So far so good it works! But for how long. What have others done to fix this part. Used ones are likely to be as bad as they are just as old.

Sounds a clever fix and you are right in principle but this part rarely fails, so I think most second-hand parts will still be like-new in operation. The usual problem is simply the glass falling off the snap-in plastic pin and Mal Simmonds has a repair kit for that.

Before Uno wrecks disappear completely we really ought to ensure we keep a few spare window regulators, just in case they do all start to fall apart. So, thanks for the heads-up. Meanwhile, my left electric window has become really slow when operated from either switch - but at least it still works...

The slow window is due
to oxidation in the switch.

Never operate the electric Window opener if not mounted.
If you let the pin, that is fastened to the window, go above the guidance
the bearings in the motor will fail. I haven't found a way to put them back
since they "run lose"

Yes, I once took apart an electric window motor and what a disaster, tiny ball bearings everywhere, I'm never trying that again.

I remember my Mum's Uno 70 had some different (aftermarket?) design of window motor on the driver's door, where the motor was on an angle down near where the door speaker was (the speaker had been moved backwards, leaving the original hole covered by a grille, so the door seemed to have two speakers). Anyway, that other type of motor was much smoother and more effective than the earlier, grinding-noise-maker. I just wonder where to find that later, better type. I initially thought 'Mk2 Uno' but it turns out they're the same as the earlier cars.

Yes I got one of these after-market window motors too.
Seems they have only been on the market for awhile.
Maybee some one from South America or other countries
that still produce the UNO has got an idea :idea:

Did you guys know that some tipo units fit unos, minor modification to the fittings. Works a treat, Ask me how I know!!!

Ahh, I never made it clear. I was talking about the electric Tipo mechanism fitting into my Mk 1 Uno.

But I guess that means a manual Tipo one would be worth a look.
