Hi everyone,

I was inspecting my Fiat Panda 1.2 Automatic (2008, 169 model) and came across this hexagonal bolt located near where the driveshaft comes out of the gearbox. I’ve marked it in the attached photo.

Does anyone know exactly what this part is? Could it be a gearbox oil drain or filler plug, or is it something else?

I’d really appreciate any information or advice. Thanks in advance!

Maybe Plug for hole where speedo cable was on much older gearbox versions?

Hi thanks for reply
I think so, but I couldn't find where to find this piece. Some gearbox have such a plug (red circle)

Did you break the part off your gearbox or did it fall off on its own?

You could try fiat part 55187172
Looks different but I expect it is will fit and stop oil leak

Ah zooming in on 2nd photo appears to show some remains of first plug broken off in hole. Broken parts will have too be extracted before fitting new plug.

You may have to get help from a local garage.

different gearbox's date of manufacture, 4x4, dualogic and so on

In photo 1 is a cap that goes over the speed sender sensor, nothing looks broken that's how it's supposed to be

On the majority of cars with ABS there is no need for speed sensor to be fitted

Instead one of these is fitted

There are exceptions though such as the climbing which has the speed sensor

No it's not a drain, that at the lower back and is a metal hex

Its an and/or situation, you either have a speed sensor and cap or a blanking plug, but you can not have both
