General Broken Fuel gauge

[Johns Fiat Farm Truck]

On my N reg 1.7 diesel fiorino, the fuel gauge doesn’t work, so far I’ve only filled up once (after running out of fuel) to the brim. How many miles should I expect and is it worth repairing the fuel gauge?
If so how would I fix the fuel gauge?

In the pick-up rear you see a oval panel, with four screws, under it is the fuel gauge sender unit.
Maybe only the contacts are corroded, and how about the fuse, is it still ok?

Is it a seperate fuse then? Just everything else seems to work iirc.

I don't know about the 1994 model, I have a 1991 model....that's different in many ways...!
Just checking the fuse would be the first step imo.

Cheers for the help people, jonathan helped repair it today it appears that somthing had chewed the cables, but got some new cables off one of his pandas so all good!

Yep, I managed to fix it

Would seem as John has said, that rat or mouse had chewed through the wires just where the plug goes into the fuel sender unit. So took the plug off of the Donor Panda I've got and used that to re-wire it. So I now have a Panda living on in John's Fiorino truck

And by sheer chance we saw an identicle truck 4 miles down the road in Barford (Norfolk) last Thursday
