Technical Broken Fan Control

Hey


My fan control knob has broken, it just spins round. I rang my local fiat dealer parts who have said you can order a new set of knobs for the fan control unit for £23, "just pull it off and clip on the new one".


Well I have tried pulling it off but it only moves about a 0.5cm, so before I use brute force to get it off can someone confirm how to remove?


Any help appreciated.

Anyone with a bit more info on removing the silver gear stick surround, I cant get it to move? is there a certain side you need to prise up first?

For anyone else who reads this and is stuck:-


- Push the plastic trim at the bottom of the gaiter(where it meets the plastic panels that run from the dash to rear) inwards so you open up a gap
- Insert a flat screwdriver
- Lever the trim out. It will pop as the catches come out
- Undo the velcro on the gaiter and pull the whole unit up over the knob

To remove my gear gaitor and chrome surround I simple pulled the two bottom corners up using the actual gaitor. Not sharp pull just a gentle increase in pressure it eventually pops up no problems. I do it often when cleaning the car to get the crap out of it.
